Board of Directors

Jim F. Ferrell

Jim Ferrell is the President/CEO of Jackson Energy Authority.  Prior to that he served as JEA’s Chief Operating Officer and the Senior Vice President of JEA's Electric Division. In addition, Mr. Ferrell has served the company as Project Engineer, Electric System Engineer, Supervisor of Operations and Vice President of Operations. 

Mr. Ferrell is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B. S. in Electrical Engineering and earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee and a Water/Wastewater Plant Certified Operator. He serves as President and Chair of the Board of Directors of The Tennergy Corporation, Tennergy Services Corporation, Venale Corporation and the Western District Energy Corporation. He also serves on multiple civil-affiliated and industry-related boards.

Mr. Ferrell currently serves on various committees of the American Public Power Association, the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association and the Western District Managers Association. Additionally, he is a member of numerous industry affiliations including the Tennessee Gas Association, Tennessee Valley Public Power Association, Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association and American Public Power Association.

Regie Castellaw

Mr. Castellaw serves as the General Manager of the Brownsville Energy Authority’s electric, gas, water, wastewater, and propane systems, a position he has held since 2008. He currently serves on the boards of the West Tennessee Industrial Association and the West Tennessee Gas Association.

Mr. Castellaw began his career with the Brownsville Energy Authority in 1980. He is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University.

Alex Smith

Mr. Alex Smith is a West TN native from Humboldt; he attended UT-Martin before transferring to UT-Knoxville where he received a BS in Electrical Engineering. He received a Master of Business Administration from Union University in 2006. Currently, he serves as the General Manager of Humboldt Utilities where he has worked for the past 15 yrs. 

Mr. Smith is one of the founding members of the Humboldt Chamber Ambassadors; He has been the TN Municipal Electric Power Association Engineering & Operations President and currently serves on TN Valley Public Power Association Research & Development Board, and also the Western District Representative for the TVPPA Electric Operations Board.

Braxton P. Williams

In addition to his position as a Director of Tennergy, Mr. Williams serves as the Senior Vice President of Jackson Energy Authority’s gas division. Prior to his current position, he served as Tennergy's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Williams had the responsibility for day-to-day operations, developing and managing long-term supply acquisition projects for the benefit of municipa gas distribution systems and public utility districts. Prior to April 2014, Mr. Williams was responsible for directing Tennergy's gas supply operations. Before joining Tennergy, he served as Project Engineer with Jackson Energy Authority with responsibilities in numerous aspects of natural gas distribution and operations. 

Mr. Williams is a graduate of Tennessee Technologial University with a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He received his M.B.A. from Union University and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Tennessee. Mr. Williams serves on several boards and committees including the American Public Gas Association, the Tennessee Gas Association and the West Tennessee Gas Association.

Nancy R. Nanney

In addition to her position as a Director of Tennergy, Mrs. Nanney serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Jackson Energy Authority (JEA.) Prior to her current position with JEA, she served as Tennergy’s Vice President and CFO, responsible for financial reporting and various financial services. Prior to August 2002, Mrs. Nanney worked with the Jackson Energy Authority as the Finance Manager, where her responsibilities included budget development, long-range financial planning, and cost studies. 

Mrs. Nanney has served in the utility industry for over 30 years filling various levels of responsibility including Financial Analyst, Manager of Finance and Accounting and field accountant.

Mrs. Nanney is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  She also received her M.B.A. from the University of Memphis.
